Post 5: August 29, Sept 2

Biology:  The following terms are found in your textbook: atom, element, compound, ion, ionic bond and covalent bonds, molecule.  Rewrite their definitions in your own words, in a way that helps you to understand them.

A and P: Explain how your tissues and membranes change with age.

Read the case study above.  Pick out 7 words that you recognize because of the terminologies you have been studying and explain what each means.

E and S:  Explain 4 of the evidences that we discussed that show that the world is round.

Botany:  When the leaves aren't on the trees, discuss 3 additional ways that you can identify a tree.

Physics:  Why is it important to study the results of a failed experiment rather than just throwing them away and starting over?

Post 4: Aug 27,28

Biology:  Express your opinion of genetic modification in humans and so called "designer babies".  Make sure to include specific points which support your opinion.

A and P:  List and explain the functions of connective tissue that are listed in your book but in your own words.

E and S:  Why are measurements important? Why is it important to have accuracy in your measurements?

Botany:  Explain why it would be important to be able identify trees if you were a landowner.  What about if you were a forester?  How can the parts of a leaf be used to do this?

Physics:  Explain the motion of a ball that is thrown into the air and then returns to the ground.

Medical Tech:  Give specific examples of 5 of the terms you learned last class, use them each in a sentence describing a patient.

Post 3: Aug 25,26

Biology:  Give a definition, in your own words, of the following terms:  biosphere, biodiversity, species, organism, cell and metabolism.

Physics:  Explain how speed, velocity and acceleration differ.

A and P:  Explain each of the functions of epithelia as described in your book on page 74 in your own words.

E and S:  What is the difference between an observation and an inference?  Why are both important?  (Hint: You may have to look these up on google)

Botany:  Explain the difference between angiosperms and gymnosperms.  Also between monocots and dicots.

Medical Terminology:  Give an example of each of the technicolor and tumor prefixes being used in medicine.

Biology:  Explain in detail an instance where you used the scientific method in one of your daily activities.

A and P:  Use the position terms and/or body region terms to describe the location of 10 parts of your body.

Physics:  Describe the difference between accuracy and precision in measurement.  Also, why is each important?

E and S: What do you know about the shape of the earth and it's origin?

Botany:  Explain, briefly, the evolution of plants as discussed in class last block.

Med Tech:  Give examples and description for 10 of the prefixes/suffixes you learned during last class.
