Post 14: September 29, 30

Biology:  Explain the process of cellular respiration and how it compares with photosynthesis.  (If you need help, see pages 107,108)

A and P:  Describe 5 of the movement terms we discussed last class, give an example of each.

Med Tech:  List 3 limitations of the xray modality.

Earth Science:  Which minerals and rocks did you choose and why?

Botany:  Give an explanation of what each of the following terms means in relation to botany:  epidermis, xylem, phloem, cortex, pith, fibers.  

Physics: 1.     A 25.0 kg child starts from rest at the top of a snowy incline 105m long and slides down to the bottom in 14.2s.  What net force acts on the child along the incline?

Biology:  Explain the Kreb's cycle as discussed in chapter 4 in your book.

A and P: Explain each of the 6 types of joints found in the human body and give an example of each.

Med Tech:  Explain how an xray machine works.  What is it used for, what are it's benefits?

Physics:  A 25000 kg truck traveling at 20 m/s strikes a VW bug weighing 2000kg sitting still.  What velocity is imposed upon the VW bug?

Earth Science:  Locate a minerals map of the world using google.  Determine the locations of 5 different minerals mined around the world.

Botany:  Identify the difference between the three types of meristems found in plants.

Physics:  Explain each of Newton's three laws and give an example of each.

Earth Science:  Explain each of the properties of minerals and how they can help identify that mineral.  Hardness, streak, color, cleavage, luster, specific gravity.

Botany:  Use google to identify each of the 3 types of plant tissues, where they are located and their functions.

A and P:  Choose one of the disorders on page 124 to briefly discuss.

MedTech:  How were x-rays first discovered and used for medicine?

Earth Science:  Identify 5 minerals found in the earth's crust.  What is their appearance and how are they formed?

Botany: So should genetic modification, in your opinion, be continued?  Why or why not?

Physics: Salmon often jump waterfalls to reach their breeding grounds.  One salmon starts 2.00m from a waterfall that is .55m tall and jumps at an angle of 32 degrees.  What must be the salmon's minimum speed to reach the waterfall.

Biology:  Write out 5 of the organelles that you and your partner studied and explain why you chose the analogy you used for each.

A and P:  Discuss each of the 5 major functions of the skeletal system.

Medical Tech:  Research enterovirus d-68 and explain it's origin, diagnosis and treatment as well as common symptoms.

Physics:  Describe projectile motion.  Explain how it differs from the motion we have discussed to this point.

Earth Science:  Discuss the 2 ways that minerals are formed.

Botany:  Explain 3 reasons why we study plants.

Post 8: September 9,10

Biology:  Explain the functions of 5 of the cell organelles found in your book in chapter 3.

A and P:  Give the name and location of 5 bones in your body.  Give one other feature you might know about each.

Medical Tech:  Write a short case study about a patient who has come into your office with a nervous or digestive system disorder using the terms you have learned.

Physics:  A man goes for a run. He begins by running 5 km at 30 degrees E of North, then he heads for another 8 km at 20 degrees S of East.  What is his resultant displacement from his starting point?

Earth Science:  Explain as much as you can about what a rock and mineral are.  Be sure to include the difference between the two.  Use google as a resource if needed.

Botany:  Determine the function of each of the following organelles/structures inside a plant cell: plasma membrane, nucleus,
endoplasmic reticulum, ribosomes, dictyosomes, plastids, mitochondria, microbodies, vacuoles, and cytoskeleton.

Biology:  Explain in 3-5 sentences what you have learned about the person whose biography you completed.

b.  What is the driver's total displacement?

Botany: Give the names of 3 of the 10 trees you have identified and one way that you can remember what they are.
